One could describe the 2019 Acura RDX sport utility vehicle as a study in turbocharged style, comfort and technology.

The new Acura RDX is available now at Tim Short Acura, 131 MacCorkle Ave., S.W., South Charleston.

For 2019, the Acura RDX has a new exterior look as well as some changes to the interior, said Tim Short Acura sales representative Justin Hatcher.

“They redid everything on it for 2019, as far as the body and the appearance,” Hatcher said.

Low and wide with flared fenders, the aggressive lines announce a focus on performance. And the Diamond Pentagon grille adds to the RDX’s sportiness and sleekness.

For 2019, the RDX’s interior has a few new design touches and a “heads-up display,” which displays the speedometer and other instruments on the windshield, allowing the driver to keep his or her eyes on the road.

Another technology feature in the 2019 Acura RDX is a “mouse pad,” or True Touchpad Interface, between the two front seats. Using this touch pad, the driver can enter various vehicle settings.

Wherever you touch, it responds. In other words, when you tap on the left corner of the touchpad, the touchpad corresponds with the action precisely on the top left of the center display. It’s personal, intuitive and user-friendly.

The new RDX also features Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive, which is perfect for winter driving in the Mountain State.

“If you’re in a situation where you’re slipping or sliding, it will throw 70 percent of the power to the tire that has the most traction to get you out of that situation,” Hatcher said.

The new Acura RDX also offers a 10-speed automatic transmission for crisp acceleration, and a standard turbocharged engine.

It’s a 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine that generates 272 horsepower.

The Acura RDX gets 27 miles per gallon on the highway and 21 mpg in the city.

Another feature, the Integrated Dynamics System (or IDS), standard on the RDX, delivers four dynamic drive modes to match the mood you’re in: Comfort, Snow, Sport and Sport+.

Comfort Mode

When you want to relax or you’re in the mood for a little pampering, select Comfort mode. You’ll get an improved ride that makes it easier to cruise around the city or on the highway. This is the perfect balance between comfort and performance, and you just might find that your drive home is one of the most peaceful parts of your day.

Snow Mode

When Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate and the winter season arrives, Snow mode on the RDX is designed to give you added confidence on roads that might be bit challenging. By controlling the amount of power that goes to each wheel, Snow mode helps maintain control. Now the term “snow day” has a whole new meaning.

Sport Mode

Now it gets fun. When you want to turn up the excitement, Sport mode adds more excitement with a heightened throttle response and a more pronounced engine note. Don’t let the good looks of the RDX fool you; under the hood is plenty of power. Just because the route home is routine doesn’t mean the driving experience has to be.

Sport+ Mode

Get ready for your heart to race and your pulse to quicken. Sport+ adds much more aggressive shifts, along with increased steering response, and it puts your paddle shifters in full manual mode. This is the ideal setting for performance and perfect for those times when you want to escape.

The new RDX also offers such amenities as a panoramic moon roof, which opens from the front of the roof all the way to back.

“That’s a standard feature,” Hatcher said.

Apple CarPlay is also available in the RDX.

Apple CarPlay Integration51 is a smarter, way to use your iPhone in your RDX. You can get directions, make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music, all in a way that allows you to enjoy the drive. Just connect your iPhone and go.

The 2019 Acura RDX is also a rolling concert hall.

Surround Sound

The Acura RDX could become one of your favorite places to listen to music. Whether you want to rock on, or sing along, the Acura/ELS Studio 3D 32 Premium Audio System in the RDX, engineered by Grammy Award–winning recording producer Elliot Scheiner, unleashes the full sound spectrum of all your favorite songs. This is true music appreciation.

Tim Short Acura sales representative Jeff Lynch said the 2019 Acura RDX is one of the nicest RDX models ever produced. He drives an RDX as his personal vehicle.

“It’s a lot more road stable, and it’s got four different ride settings,” Lynch said.
